Technical Overview Of Ruby On Rails

Ruby On Rails or ROR is an open source web application framework for the Ruby programming language. Ruby on Rails was extracted by David Heinemeier Hansson from his occupation on Basecamp - it is a project administration device by 37signals which is a web application development company.

Like other web application frameworks, ROR uses the Model-View-Controller architecture model to categorize web application programming. ROR includes tools which make common web development tasks easier like: scaffolding that can automatically create some of the models and views needed for a basic website which helps in excellent web design structure for web designer and developer. ROR is also striking for its broad use of the JavaScript libraries prototype and scripts. ROR primarily utilized frivolous SOAP for web services; latterly it had been replaced by Restful web services. ROR 3.0 uses a technique called Unobtrusive JavaScript which helps to separate the functionality from the structure of the web page of website.

Since version 2.0, ROR by default offers both HTML and XML as output formats. The latter is the flair for Restful web services. ROR 3.0 has been premeditated to work with Ruby 1.8.7, Ruby 1.9.2, and JRuby 1.5.2+; its earlier versions are not supported.
